Amazon Just Handed Claude the Keys to Your Storefront

For years, running an Amazon store meant living inside Seller Central like it was a second job — tabs open, dashboards refreshed, prices tweaked at midnight. As of this week, you can apparently just ask an AI to do that instead. No, this isn't a hypothetical. Amazon actually did it.

The Storefront Gets an AI Front Door

At Amazon Accelerate on September 23, Amazon opened its Seller Central APIs to outside AI agents for the first time, launching a US beta plugin that lets sellers manage inventory, pricing, listings, and analytics directly from Anthropic's Claude or Amazon's own Quick assistant — without ever opening the Seller Central dashboard.

The plugin pulls a seller's live listings, inventory levels, sales analytics, and performance metrics straight into whichever AI tool they're already using, and the assistant can act on the account the same way Amazon's built-in Seller Assistant does. Amazon says connecting Claude takes about 60 seconds with no coding involved, and the whole thing runs on Bedrock, combining Amazon's own Nova model with Claude.

Permission Slips, Not a Free-for-All

Amazon built in guardrails that matter: sellers choose exactly which categories of data the plugin can reach, and every action gets an explicit approval step before it's carried out. That's a meaningfully different posture than "give the bot your login and hope for the best." Amazon is also sweetening the deal with a free 12-month Quick Plus subscription through the end of 2026 for primary account holders.

The bigger story here isn't really about Amazon sellers specifically — it's a preview of where every business dashboard is headed. Inventory systems, CRMs, analytics platforms: the pattern of "let an AI agent act on your behalf, inside permission boundaries you control" is about to become the default expectation, not the novelty.

If your business software still requires a human to manually click through five screens to update a price, you're not behind because you lack AI — you're behind because nobody's built the bridge yet.

We build exactly those bridges — connecting business systems to AI agents with the right guardrails in place, not just the flashy demo. Tell us what you're trying to automate and we'll tell you if it's a weekend project or a real one.
