GPT-6 Will Build Your Mortgage Calculator So Your Website Doesn't Have To

Remember when the hottest thing on a website was a mortgage calculator with a little slider? Somewhere, a marketing team spent three sprints on that slider. On October 7, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT can now whip one up on demand, mid-conversation, while you're still typing your follow-up question.

Chatbot Answers Now Come With Buttons

OpenAI rolled out GPT-6 in ChatGPT along with a feature it calls Intelligent UI. Instead of returning a wall of text, ChatGPT can now answer with charts, buttons, forms, and small working tools — ask for a bill splitter or a unit converter and you get a usable one right inside the chat. Under the hood, a library of native components streams in while the model writes, so the interface builds progressively instead of appearing all at once at the end.

Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users get the GPT-6 Sol model starting October 7, while Free and Go users get GPT-6 Luna starting October 8. OpenAI also says GPT-6 Instant answers web-search questions 44% faster on average than the previous version. With ChatGPT reportedly at around 1.2 billion weekly users, that's a very large audience suddenly getting interactive answers by default.

The Calculator Page Has Competition

As Search Engine Journal pointed out, this puts a target on a whole category of web content: calculator pages, converters, and simple "tool" pages that have long been reliable traffic magnets. If a visitor can generate a custom tool without ever leaving the chat window, the old "build a free tool, rank for it, collect leads" playbook gets a lot shakier. It's also not yet clear how citations will work for visual answers, although a Sources button may point back to underlying information.

The angle worth chewing on: this doesn't make websites obsolete — it makes generic websites obsolete. A chatbot can build a generic loan calculator, but it can't build one tied to your actual rates, your inventory, or your customer's account. The defensible web experiences are the ones powered by data and context that only you have. If your site's main value is something an AI can reproduce in four seconds, that's not a ChatGPT problem; that's a strategy problem.

The bar for "useful website" just went up. Good — the internet could use a few fewer sliders.

If GPT-6 just made you nervous about your site's tool pages, let's talk about turning them into experiences built on data a chatbot can't fake.
