For years, asking a chatbot for help splitting a dinner bill meant getting three tidy paragraphs explaining division. Helpful, sure, in the way a vending machine that dispenses instructions for making a sandwich is helpful. OpenAI's latest release would rather just hand you the calculator.
Sol, Luna, and a Chat Window That Grew Buttons
OpenAI launched GPT-6 in ChatGPT on October 7, alongside a feature it calls Intelligent UI. Paid Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users get GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go users began getting GPT-6 Luna on October 8. OpenAI says ChatGPT now reaches more than 1.2 billion weekly users, so this is about as wide a rollout as software gets.
Intelligent UI lets the model build an answer out of text, images and interactive elements, deciding on the fly what fits the question. That can mean charts, tappable buttons, forms, maps, comparisons, explanatory diagrams, or a small tool built on request, like a savings calculator or a bill splitter. Users can dial the amount of visual material up or down, and the feature lives in the Chat tab, with Enterprise availability depending on admin settings. Coverage of the launch so far hasn't detailed API availability or benchmarks.
The Answer Box Just Became a Competitor
This is a bigger shift than "the chatbot got prettier." A huge share of the web exists to answer a question with a small interactive widget: mortgage calculators, comparison tables, store locators, quote estimators. If a billion-plus people can get a disposable custom version of that widget inside a chat window, the bar for what makes a business website worth visiting just went up.
The angle most people miss: the generated calculator is only as good as the facts it's built on. A chatbot can whip up a slick shipping-cost estimator in seconds, but it doesn't know your actual rates, inventory or service area unless that information is published clearly and structured well. Businesses with accurate, well-organized content and real tools on their own sites become the source of truth; businesses with a PDF price list from 2019 become the source of hallucinations. The interface is getting commoditized. Your data isn't.
When the chat window can build the widget, the winning move is owning the facts the widget depends on.
If your site's most useful tools and information are buried where neither humans nor AI can find them, our team can help you structure and surface them so you're the answer, not the afterthought.
